Yes, We Can!

I believe it. I believe that it's happened. I am a Democrat and I'm now a Barrack Obama Supporter. The issues are clear and if they weren't before, they most certainly are now.

The man said it best! "Enough!... Eight Years is enough!" Like a Democratic battle cry, the crowd roared with cheers and chanting

"Yes, We Can!"

I couldn't help wishing I was there among the camaraderie of my fellow Democrats.

Alas, the speech was an odd mix of the lovable Barrack Obama, who takes the high road, and a cuttingly witty and blunt man ready for a fight. I was surprised, but excited to know what's up next in the debates to come. I'm eager to see the fight and the real knock-down of McCain.

It looks as though Pres. Nominee Obama has got it in for the Budget. There's going to be a major cleaning of house for the poorly organized government programs. I'm waiting for all the tax breaks for the Hummer Drivers to go down the toilet. I am waiting for Green Tech to have it's big boost in the coming months. I'm waiting for science to take a front seat to misguided religious doctrines. I'm waiting for my friends in Iraq to come home. I'm waiting for United States science and technology education, funding and innovation to take first place again. I'm waiting for the students to come first again.

I believe it. I believe that my faith, pride, and love of this country will shine in Barrack Obama's successful ascension to Presidency. I will work for the future of America and the future that Barrack Obama's painted; a brighter future, a future shaped by our ideals and hopes, not our fears. A future that's about us...

Roller Coaster Road Tucson, AZ

Saturday, August 16, 2008. About 2 pm in Tucson, AZ.

We turned the corner and I asked Travis, "Where are we going?"
He calmly replies, "Put your feet all the way forward," and proceeds to push my seat all the way back.

As the seat clunked to a halt on the last notch, he was flying down this road at 50 mph! Good thing my feet were all the way forward so I could brace myself. I think my fingernails left indentations on his nice interior. This Road was not just a nice straight residential road...it earned it's name. The sidewinder curves and the quick ups and downs made it a real ride.

At 50 mph we were FLYING! I really mean it! The car first took off with 2 wheels staying on the ground on the first quick hill! The second...ALL FOUR WHEELS were airborn. I thought, "I'm gonna die!" Well I trusted Travis and knew I wasn't going to die, but I was extremely worried that he was going to hit a small child or dog in the road. He took every curve and straight-way at 40 mph or greater! I could feel the quick change of centripetal force swinging me right , then left and right again. On the straight-ways I was just holding on and hoping a car in the next lane didn't make that turn up ahead too quickly. Accelerating down the road and whipping around the bends. Staying inside the lines was easy with his speed daemon car! The serenity of the neighbourhood was squashed by the revving energy emanating from the car. I couldn't believe we were getting away with this!

Whipping back and forth, up and down this road felt like it lasted for a long while, but I'm sure it was only 15 or 20 seconds. Truly exhilarating and reminiscent of microgravity, but not so fast. Between my shouting "TRAVIS!" and his laughing, it probably would have seemed like torture, but by the end...I wanted to ride again!

Thanks for the good time. Ladies, men are reckless drivers and they earned their higher insurance rates. Don't let Travis borrow your car...ever!
