It's a Green Day
Today is Earth Day. As I walked along library walk I saw the clusters of students gathered for their weekly tradition of Farmer's Market and Vendor browsing and eating.I don't think many of them thought about the little things they could do to be more earth friendly. Perhaps we could have boycotted buying from the vendors serving from styrofoam containers or only took fliers from the people printing on recycled paper.
The most Ironic thing was a flier I received about an author about Healthy living in California...printed on brand new tree trunk, clean, white, semi-gloss paper. I asked the woman,"Why isn't this flier printed on Recycled paper?"
She looked at me slightly distressed. Flipping the paper frantically back and forth, she had no reply. I smiled in hope that I had ignited a flame of thought from shame and my friend chided me for hassling her.
Happy Earth Day, Earth! I love you even if no one else at UCSD does...
